The Arizona Diamondbacks had to overcome a good performance from Texas pitcher Kelly Goosecock to claim a 3-2 win at Globe Life Park in Arlington. Goosecock went 7.1 innings and allowed 3 runs. Mario Valdivia recorded his 7th save for Arizona. The Diamondbacks have now won 6 straight.
Arizona used the timely hitting of Roy Steigerwald to capture the win. The right fielder socked a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Diamondbacks ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.
Steigerwald attributed the win to "energy and focus on the part of everyone."
