					| The Montreal Expos got a sterling performance from pitcher Cheng-ho Hsu, but the New York Yankees still prevailed, 5-4. Hsu threw 5.1 innings of 4-hit ball. Reliever Robert Cruz picked up the win. His record improves to 5-1. Kyle Schlosschlonghair took the loss. The Yankees raised their record to 40-74. 
 Russ Shambaugh, who is tied for 5th in the AL in triples with 7, chipped in for  New York with a run-scoring  single in the bottom of the eighth. For the game, the center fielder had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 RBI.
 
 Shambaugh called the triumph "a good team win."
