					| Mariners Bridle Astros, 3-1 |
					| The Seattle Mariners took Houston pitcher Mat Pear's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Safeco Field. The final score had Seattle getting past the Astros, 3-1. Pear went 6.1 innings and allowed 3 runs, striking out 6. The Mariners raised their record to 58-56.
The Astros had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Mariners going into the bottom of the second inning. That changed quickly when the 31-year old third baseman Jimmy Hammertime came to the plate. Hammertime hit a 2-run home run on a 2-1 fastball from Houston hurler Mat Pear. It was Hammertime's 9th home run of the year.

"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Seattle skipper Aaron Schiff.
