Iacovone Gets 6 Hits
After a 6-hit effort to lead Washington (APP)'s 29-2 victory over the Chicago (APP) Cubs, second baseman Charlie Iacovone told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day."

"It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the Appalachian League-level is really something special."

The 17-year-old player earned his accolades today at Baseball City Complex with a spectacular 6-for-8 game against the Cubs.

"His swing is getting there," said Nationals skipper Andy Vazquez, who spoke glowingly of Iacovone after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Charlie did that to perfection today."

Charlie Iacovone singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, grounded out in the 4th, singled in the 6th, doubled in the 8th and struck out in the 9th.

Iacovone is swinging at a .272 pace on the year with 2 home runs, 12 RBIs and 14 runs scored. He has played in 23 games.
