					| Padres Win at Cincinnati, 3-1 |
					| Great American Ball Park was the site of a tense game between the Cincinnati Reds and San Diego Padres.
In a low-scoring game between the San Diego Padres and the Cincinnati Reds, pitcher Isaac Spikes was masterful on the mound. The San Diego right-hander spearheaded his team's 3-1 win. The winning pitcher was Spikes, now 9-6. He tossed 7.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 5.

Phil Zacharia, the five-time All-Star , had a direct impact on the outcome. Zacharia contributed a 2-run home run in the top of the first inning to put San Diego up, 2-0.

"The key at this level is throwing strike one," said Spikes. "Successful pitchers do it."

San Diego has 3 straight wins, Cincinnati 3 straight losses.
