					| Angels Prevail, 3-1, Over Los Angeles |
					| The California Angels got a magnificent performance from pitcher Gus Morante, who muffled the Los Angeles offense en route to a tight 3-1 Angels win at Angel Stadium of Anaheim. Dave Jackson notched his 10th save in 12 chances. The Angels lead the American League West Division by 2½ games.
The Angels got a big at-bat from designated hitter Ruben Velasco. For the game, Velasco was 1-3 with a home run and a walk. In the bottom of the third, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 15th home run of the season gave California a 1-0 lead.

"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said California skipper Dakota Wise.
