The home crowd had a good time watching the Detroit Tigers and Cleveland Guardians get after it.

In the 9-6 Cleveland win over Detroit, the impact of Aaron Matthews was substantial. Matthews, who is a two-time Great Glove Award winner, was 3 for 5 with a home run and a double. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Katsumi Omura recorded the save for Cleveland, his 24th of the season.

Matthews contributed a big hit, a 2-run double, for Cleveland in the bottom of the fifth. With his team trailing 6-5, Matthews took a cutter from Chris McCurdy and stroked the double to right. His 12th double of the season allowed the Guardians to leap in front, 7-6.

"It was a solid team effort," said Matthews after the game.

The 4th-place Guardians have won 5 in a row.
