It wasn't easy but John Brown made it look that way.

Brown silenced the University of Illinois Fighting Illini, 19-0, in a Pennsylvania State University Nittany Lions triumph at Illinois Field today. Despite the appearance of dominance, Brown said later that he felt like he was struggling all game. He gave up no walks and 1 hit.

"It didn't feel quite right today, but I made the decision to bear down and work through it," he said. "I made a few mistakes but it goes to show what you can do with grit and not much else."

Up to now Brown has recorded a record of 6-2. In 11 starts he has fanned 67 batters in 62 innings with a 2.61 ERA.
