Pirates Stay Hot With 7-6 Win
David Contreras was a vital contributor to the 7-6 Pittsburgh victory over Washington. The Pirates shortstop went 2-4 with a triple and a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Jeremy Kennie earned the save, his 13th, for the Pirates. Pittsburgh has now won 7 games in a row.

With Pittsburgh leading 2-1 in the bottom of the second, Contreras hit a curveball from Jason Cheek for a 2-run triple. It was his 4th triple of the season and put the Pirates ahead, 4-1.

"It was a solid team effort," Contreras said. "That's usually what it takes to win."
