					| Detroit Beats Boston, 4-2 |
					| Getting a good performance from second baseman Frank McConnell, the Detroit Tigers defeated the Boston Red Sox, 4-2. McConnell was 2 for 2 with a home run, a walk, and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Tigers. Eric Putnam, the winner, improved to 3-5. He held the Red Sox to 2 runs on 6 hits over 6.2 innings, while striking out 8 and walking 2. Bobby Mott finished to wrap up his 1st save.
McConnell had a key at-bat for Detroit early in the game. With a runner on 2nd, he hit a 2-run home run. It was his 3rd home run of the season and gave Detroit an early 2-0 lead.

"When this team comes together and plays the way we can, we can compete with anyone," said McConnell. "I think we're going to keep proving that."

Detroit now sits at 20-27, while Boston falls to 29-18.
