					| Behind a solid performance from right fielder Pat Sutton, the St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Cincinnati Reds, 16-0. Sutton was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, a walk,  and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 4 and driving in 3 for the Cardinals. Keith Anter, who went 8.2 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with no runs on 7 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 12. His record now stands at 3-6.  St. Louis is now 24-24, Cincinnati 25-21. 
 One pivotal at-bat came with two out in the top of the fifth. With the bases loaded and Cincinnati trailing 6-0, Keith Anter needed to bear down against Steve Castleberry. Anter won the battle, as Castleberry flied out and the Cardinals went on to win.
