There was no spell, no black magic -- just good pitching.

Victor Walshe of the Spokane Indians blanked the Idaho Falls Chukars, 12-0, at Melaleuca Field today, and he did it the old-fashioned way. After finishing the 5-hit, complete-game shutout, he was all smiles.

"I threw a lot of my pitches for strikes in this game," Walshe said. "I mixed it up and tried keeping these guys off balance."

Walshe walked 1 and struck out 10 in the victory.

"He was throwing his breaking ball for strikes and we never capitalized on any of his mistakes," Chukars manager Michael Petersen said later.

Walshe has made 14 starts, tossed 101 innings, struck out 128 batters and walked 12. His record is 11-1 with a 2.05 ERA and he has limited other teams to a .189 batting average.
