Arizona's Quirk Chosen September's Best in NL Monday, October 1st , 2046 When the Diamondbacks skipper wrote Quirk on the lineup card, it was a bad omen for the opposition. Outing after outing in September he took command and usually got the win. He dominated with a 4-0 mark and 2.65 ERA in 5 starts. The gifted Diamondbacks star pitched 34 innings, fanned 40 and held opposing teams to a .179 average. For his excellent mound work Quirk was named the NL Pitcher of the Month by the baseball writers. For the season Quirk has compiled a 16-9 record with a 4.22 ERA. |
