Division Championship Goes the Distance, Lansing Prevails Saturday, October 20th , 2046 The Division Championship went the distance before it all was said and done. The Lansing Lugnuts and the Cedar Rapids Kernels went at it tooth-and-nail and when it was over at Cooley Law School Stadium, the winner was the Lugnuts. They put away Cedar Rapids 11-1 to cinch the series and won the right to move onto the Conference Championship. For his fine play, even in a losing effort, Cedar Rapids right fielder Israel Montoya was given the series Most Valuable Player Award. He hit .357, scored 4 runs and batted in 6 to win the honor. "It's nice that someone noticed my numbers, but I'd trade it in a heartbeat for a win," he said. The Conference Championship matchups and schedule will be announced after the Division Championship finishes. |
