Volnov Tosses 8-0 Shutout Friday, December 1st , 2045 All went well for Nicolai Volnov of the Myrtle Beach Pelicans as he pitched his team to a 8-0 shutout victory over the Clearwater Threshers, limiting them to 4 hits. In the postgame interview, both managers had glowing things to say about Volnov on the day. "Nicolai's got a good selection of pitches he can throw at a guy," said Pelicans manager Jake Bauers. "He changes speed, gives different looks to different hitters. When he's on his game, he's quite a handful." In the contest, the Myrtle Beach right-hander rang up 11 and surrendered 1 walk. "He didn't give us any second chances," said Threshers manager Chris Wilson. "It's a guessing game with him and today we were always guessing wrong." |
