					| Mariners Score Late to Upend Yankees, 3-1 |  
					| The Seattle Mariners got a stellar performance from pitcher Joe Hincks, who handcuffed the New York offense en route to a win, 3-1, at Yankee Stadium. Seattle reliever Lance Crumpton was the winner. His record is now 4-1. The losing pitcher was Robert Cruz. David Sly got the save, his 27th in 37 chances. 
 Seattle relied on the hitting of Bobby Larson to pick up the win. The designated hitter clubbed a solo  home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Mariners on top, 2-1. For the game, Larson had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
 
 "This was a tough loss," said New York manager Vince Deyzel. "It'll stick in my craw for a while."
 
 With the victory, the Mariners upped their record to 87-71.
