					| The Pittsburgh Pirates handed the St. Louis Cardinals a loss at Busch Stadium.  The final score was 5-3. Marvin McAleer made the highlight reel for Pittsburgh. In addition to his 1 single and 1 home run, he scored 1 run and drove in 2. He also added 2 bases on balls. The winning pitcher was Isaburo Ishihara. He tossed 108 pitches over 7 innings, allowing 3 runs on 5 hits. Jeremy Kennie earned the save, his 41st. 
 Mike Bates, the top prospect , had a direct impact on the outcome. Bates contributed a run-scoring  sacrifice fly in the top of the sixth inning to put Pittsburgh up, 5-3.
