Starting pitcher Oscar Banda was a major factor in the 7-1 Miami Marlins triumph over the New York Mets. The third-place Marlins raised their record to 66-73.

The game could have flipped with one out in the top of the fourth. But Oscar Banda made what his manager later called "an A-plus pitch." With the bases loaded and New York trailing 2-0, Banda threw a fastball to Roberto Magne and Magne hit into a double play.
