Pirates Get Past Detroit for 3-2 Win
|
The Pirates grabbed a win, 3-2, at Comerica Park, overcoming a fine effort from Detroit pitcher Adrian Hamilton. Hamilton went 7 innings and allowed 1 run. The winner was Pittsburgh reliever J.J. Sykes, now 2-1. The loser was Joe Bradford. The losing streak for Detroit has now reached 8 games.
Pittsburgh used the clutch hitting of Pat Sutton to snag the win. The pinch hitter drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Pirates ahead, 3-2. It was his lone hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a crucial one.
"We played a good game and came out on top," said Sutton.
