The Pittsburgh Pirates used an offensive barrage to beat the St. Louis Cardinals, 11-1, at PNC Park. Andrew Robinson led the way, going 3-for-4 for Pittsburgh. The winner was Ian Toney, who threw 110 pitches over 7 innings. The right-hander was charged with no runs on 7 hits. Pittsburgh is now 59-38, 9½ games up in the National League Central Division.

With Pittsburgh leading 6-0 in the bottom of the sixth, Robinson came up to bat against St. Louis pitcher Chris Perretta. Robinson hit a fastball to left for a grand slam home run. His 9th home run of the season put the Pirates on top, 10-0.

"Whenever we hold the other team to one run," said Pirates manager Kevin Giles, "I like our chances."
