Expos Advance to League Championship Series
|
The Division Series didn't live up to the billing from those who thought it would be an all-out battle to the last game.
But the Montreal Expos are no doubt pleased by the results, as they have knocked out the Toronto Blue Jays 3-1 to advance to the League Championship Series.
"It doesn't matter how you win it, as long as you win it and get yourself moving forward," said Expos first baseman Steve French. "I know a lot of people thought this was going to be a really tight series the whole way through, but we're glad it didn't go right down to the wire."
Montreal won the final game by a score of 7-1 at Quebecor Stadium.
French was named series MVP after hitting .333 with a .444 on-base percentage. He also had 3 home runs, drove in 8 RBI and scored 6 runs.
The Montreal Expos will play against the New York Yankees in the next round. New York won their series against the Chicago White Sox 3 games to 1. The League Championship Series schedule will be announced after the Division Series finishes.
