Safeco Field was the site of an exciting ballgame between the Baltimore Orioles and Seattle Mariners.

Leon Alders had a good game, but he could not keep the Seattle Mariners from falling, 8-7, to the Baltimore Orioles at Safeco Field. The Seattle first baseman was 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks in the loss. The winner in relief was Jamie Tanner. He is now 1-3. The left-hander allowed 1 run on 1 hit in 2 innings.

It could have been a different outcome for Baltimore, had it not been for Blake Ballard, the 36-year old center fielder . Ballard contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the eighth inning to put Baltimore up, 8-7.

"I like to lead by example," said Ballard. "I'm glad I could contribute to a good win."

Baltimore now owns a record of 31-41.
