					| The Chicago Cubs beat the Philadelphia Phillies, 9-3, at Citizens Bank Park. Efrain Vargas, in particular, was impressive. He was 3 for 3 with a double, 2 singles,  and 2 walks, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2. The winner was Brock Lewis in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Robby Benchio took the loss. With the win, the Cubs have a record of 22-21. 
 Kevin Norton, the fan favorite , had a direct impact on the outcome. Norton contributed a 3-run  home run in the top of the first inning to put Chicago up, 3-0.
 
 "The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager Mergatroid Skittle said.
