 Mike Swenson was a calming influence out of the Calgary Flames bullpen this season.
 
 His teammates and manager said he had a poised demeanor about him that was typical of someone much older and more experienced. His poise has paid off, as the 22-year-old turned in a sparkling season and has been named the winner of the Western League Reliever of the Year Award for 2044.
 
 The Mesa, Arizona native won the award with 35 saves in 55 relief appearances, 103 strikeouts in 72.1 innings and a record of 4-3 to go with his 1.37 ERA.
 
 He received 20 first place votes out of a possible 30. Ching Ge of the Calgary Flames finished second in voting with 10 first place votes, while Manny Rolfe of the Americus Braves finished third.
