Bourque Electric in 14-0 Win Thursday, September 29th , 2044 In an outstanding mound performance, Chester Pirates starter Eric Bourque fired a complete-game shutout against the Columbus Reds at Chester Ballpark today. Bourque was the key to the Pirates's 14-0 win. The 19-year-old right-hander was in high spirits on the mount for much of the game, his mood largely undented by the 3 hits and 1 walk he allowed. "3 hits?" he said with a laugh following the game. "Listen, I'd be happy with a 30-hitter as long as it was a shutout." For the season Bourque has made no relief appearances, recorded no saves and compiled a 11-8 won-lost mark and a 4.51 ERA. In pitching 171.2 innings, he has totaled 245 strikeouts and 46 walks. |
