Hat Trick of Home Runs for Black Tuesday, October 18th , 2044 It was a special day for Matt Black, but less so for the Oakland (APP) Athletics. Black slammed three home runs against the Pulaski Yankees, but the Yankees outhit him and got the win by a score of 11-5. "Lately, I been uppercutting the ball too much. I would hit it hard, but they just went sky high and stayed in the ballpark," he said to sportswriters after the game. "No big long outs for me in this game -- I leveled out my swing and connected on the sweet spot three times. I knew they were gone the minute I hit 'em." The Oakland (APP) third baseman finished the day at Calfee Park with 3 hits in 4 at-bats, 4 RBI and 3 runs scored. Matt Black hit a solo-shot off Chris McCoy in the 3rd, struck out in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Steve Martin in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off Cale Morris in the 9th. This season Black is batting .313 with 129 RBIs, 136 runs scored and 57 home runs. |
