Springfield Advances to Conference Championship Sunday, October 9th , 2044 Melvin Enriquez sparked his Springfield Cardinals past the pesky Reading Fightin Phils in a closely-contested Division Championship. Springfield topped Reading 4-1 at Hammons Field to decide the series, 4-2 For his efforts, Enriquez was rewarded with the series MVP trophy for his .400 batting average, 6 RBIs and 4 runs scored. "You never want to leave anything on the field," Enriquez said. "You never want to miss a play of defense you could have made, or give up an extra base you could have gotten, because in a series this tight you never know what you'll need to win."
