Newton Must Sit Out 2 Games Monday, September 12th , 2044 Tennessee left fielder Brian Newton was suspended 2 games for his actions during a recent game against the Reading Fightin Phils. The home plate umpire tossed him after Newton heatedly disputed a called-third strike. The Smokies said he would begin serving the suspension immediately. Newton is hitting .207 this year with 5 home runs, 35 RBIs and 24 runs scored. He has 100 hits in 484 at-bats, 12 walks and a .243 on-base percentage. Newton has played in 130 games. |
