National League Names Staley Best Batter Monday, June 27th , 2044 So far in his young career, Mike Staley has kept a low profile, but after his performance at the plate last week, he attracted the notice of the rest of the National League in a big way as he was named the Player of the Week today for his efforts. The 22-year-old Biloxi Shuckers center fielder hit at a torrid .500 clip as he collected 8 hits in 16 at-bats, 2 home runs, 4 RBIs and 7 runs scored. In 14 games this season Staley is batting .333 with 17 hits and 2 home runs. He has scored 11 runs and driven in 6. |
