					| Pirates Win at St. Louis, 8-5 |
					| The Pittsburgh Pirates topped the St. Louis Cardinals by the score of 8-5, with the largest share of the credit going to first baseman Vincent Poopwell. Poopwell was 3-4 with 3 singles and a walk for the Pirates. Pittsburgh reliever Phil Sell was the winner. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was Chad Steffee. Steve Grier closed the game out for Pittsburgh, earning his 6th save.
It could have been a different outcome for Pittsburgh, had it not been for Marvin McAleer, the 2042 Rookie of the Year Award winner . McAleer contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth inning to put Pittsburgh up, 7-5.

"I'm trying to keep it simple," said Poopwell. "Just do my job."

The loss makes St. Louis 7-10.
