Behind an impressive start by Matt Altieri, Miami beat Pittsburgh, 2-1. Altieri went the distance for Miami. He gave up 1 run on 6 hits. The loss puts Pittsburgh at 6-5.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Miami second baseman Josh Crenwelge, facing Riichi Yamashita, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Marlins the 2-1 win.

"We squandered some opportunities," said Pittsburgh manager Michael Jank.
