The San Diego Padres had to overcome a big game from Los Angeles shortstop Clay Buchanan to leave Petco Park with a victory. And they did, winning 10-9. Buchanan went 3 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2. Phil Hall got the save, his 1st in 1 chances. With the win, San Diego pushed its record to 108-50.

San Diego took a 10-8 lead on Carlos Reyes's 8th double of the season. The bases-clearing double, which Reyes hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Los Angeles pitcher Lance Crumpton visibly frustrated.

"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said San Diego manager Robert Yoka.
