Tigers Fall Short, 3-2, at Kansas City
|
David Cruz pitched well, but his team, the Detroit Tigers, still dropped a 3-2 decision to the Kansas City Royals at Kauffman Stadium. Chris Irvin earned the win for Kansas City. He lasted 5.1 innings, allowing 2 runs on 6 hits, while striking out 5. With the win, he raised his record to 6-0. Asa Hahn earned his 19th save in 23 chances.
The Royals got a big at-bat from center fielder Tony Prado. For the game, Prado was 1-3 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fourth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 32nd home run of the season gave Kansas City a 3-2 lead.
"That's a solid team effort right there," said Prado. "Everyone's feeling positive after that win."
With the win, Kansas City goes to 73-84, while the Tigers fall to 106-51.
