					| Pirates Deal Braves 4-3 Loss |
					| The Pittsburgh Pirates picked up a win at Turner Field, knocking off the Atlanta Braves, 4-3. On the mound for Pittsburgh was right-hander Vince Scripp, who played a pivotal role in the win. Scripp picked up the win for Pittsburgh, going 6 innings. He gave up 3 runs on 3 hits. He now sports a record of 7-6. Steve Grier got the save, his 35th in 38 chances.
Pittsburgh used the clutch hitting of Mike Bates to capture the win. The third baseman drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Pirates ahead, 4-3. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a big one.

"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Pittsburgh manager Michael Jank.

The Braves, at 55-100, have lost 6 straight games.
