Cincinnati starter Jeff Baker pitched well against the New York Mets at Great American Ball Park. The left-hander led his team to a win, 3-2. Paul Forbes was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 26 of 27 save opportunities. The win puts Cincinnati at 80-52 this season.

Fred Slade took Jose Vega deep in the bottom of the sixth. His solo home run put the Reds on top, 3-2. In all, Slade had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
