Expos Suffer 3-1 Loss to New York
|
Zach Purvis never let the Expos get in a groove. The left-hander used his bread and butter, his forkball, to pitch the Yankees to a win, 3-1. Timothy Greinke, now 2-0, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. Juan Hurtado was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 2 of 5 save opportunities.
The Yankees got a big at-bat from right fielder David Bramble. For the game, Bramble was 2 for 4 with a double. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 27th double of the season gave New York a 2-1 lead.
"I tried to mix it up, keep them off balance," said Purvis.
The American League East Division-leading Yankees have a record of 67-51.
