Arizona shortstop Alec Thorpe contributed to his team's 9-4 win over the St. Louis Cardinals. Thorpe, who led the AL in on-base percentage with .485 in 2040, went 2 for 4 with 1 run scored to lead the offensive attack for the Diamondbacks. Arizona now has a record of 67-42 with the win.

Mario Soto, the 32-year old first baseman , had a direct impact on the outcome. Soto contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the fifth inning to put Arizona up, 2-1.

"I like to lead by example," said Thorpe. "I'm glad I could contribute to a good win."
