Indians Prevail, 5-3, Over Kansas City
|
The Cleveland Indians defeated the Kansas City Royals, 5-3, at Progressive Field today. Leading the charge for Cleveland was third baseman Merrick Geter. He went 2 for 4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Danny Murguia earned the win for Cleveland. He lasted 6 innings, allowing 3 runs on 5 hits, while striking out 3. With the win, he raised his record to 2-1. Justin Finch earned his 1st save in 2 chances.
Geter had a key at-bat for Cleveland early in the game. With a runner on 1st, he hit a 2-run home run. It was his 14th home run of the season and gave Cleveland an early 2-0 lead.
"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Geter said.
The victory puts Cleveland at 36-62.
