					| The Pittsburgh Pirates topped the Milwaukee Brewers by a score of 4-2. Leading the way was catcher Vincent Poopwell. Poopwell went 2-2 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Pirates. Steve Grier converted his 24th save in 24 tries. The Pirates bumped their record to 50-48 with this latest triumph. 
 Jeckel Hester, who led the AL in stolen bases with 62 in 2039, chipped in for  Pittsburgh with a solo  home run in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the designated hitter had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 1 run batted in.
 
 "We made a couple of mistakes," said Milwaukee skipper Erik Evanson, "and it cost us."
