					| Pirates Pull Even With 5-2 Victory |  
					| Pittsburgh and Chicago duked it out and the Pirates came out victorious. 
 The Pittsburgh Pirates topped the Chicago Cubs by the score of 5-2, with the biggest share of the credit going to right fielder Steve Jordan. Jordan was 4-4 with a double, 3 singles,  and a walk for the Pirates on the day. Vince Scripp earned the win to go to 3-4. He allowed 2 runs on 5 hits, with 3 walks and 3 strikeouts in 6 innings of work.  Steve Grier was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 22 of 22 save opportunities.
 
 Mike Bates, the slick-fielding third baseman , had a direct impact on the outcome. Bates contributed a solo  home run in the top of the fifth inning to put Pittsburgh up, 3-1.
 
 "It's nice to come out on top today," said Bates.
 
 The win puts Pittsburgh at 48-48 this season.
