Gomez Batters Columbus for 5 Hits
No matter what the Columbus Reds threw at him today, Luis Gomez hit it. He easily handled Reds pitching, going 5 for 6 and helping the Majors to a 28-0 triumph at Columbus Baseball Complex.

"The way I was swinging today, I think I could have closed my eyes and hit the ball," he told BNN reporters in the postgame interview.

Told of Gomez's quip, Reds skipper Flint Wipke said he "would take him up on that next time."

Luis Gomez hit an RBI single in the 1st, doubled in the 2nd, hit a two-run double in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, walked in a run in the 6th, struck out in the 7th and hit a three-run home run off Davy Thorne in the 8th.

Batting .312 to date, Gomez has 7 home runs and 37 RBIs.
