The Kansas City Royals defeated the New York Yankees, 3-2, in American League action at Kauffman Stadium. Kansas City pitcher Matt Evans had a standout performance. Kansas City reliever John Hall got the win, raising his record to 2-3. Dave Barry was tagged with the loss. The win puts Kansas City at 45-42 this season.

Kansas City took a 3-2 lead on Imbart Faber's 18th double of the season. The 2-run double, which Faber hit in the bottom of the eighth, left New York pitcher Dave Barry visibly frustrated.

Faber called the win "a team effort."
