					| Cubs Drop Padres, 3-2 |
					| Chicago got a strong outing from Randy Budgell as the Cubs defeated the San Diego Padres, 3-2, at Petco Park. In 5 innings, Budgell surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 3. He allowed no runs. Yeong-kil Suck earned his 4th save in 4 chances.
Chicago used a well-timed hit by Efrain Vargas to capture the win. The first baseman socked a run-scoring double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Cubs ahead, 1-0. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.

Budgell said his team "played with determination."

The Cubs own a robust 62-25 mark.
