Boston and Miami duked it out and the Red Sox came out victorious.
The Red Sox grabbed a win, 4-2, at Marlins Park, overcoming a fine effort from Miami pitcher Dan Tapley. Tapley went 8 innings and allowed 1 run. Fred Huber came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. His record now stands at 4-1. Picking up the save was Max Blankenship, his 16th.
Boston used the timely hitting of Brace Harper to capture the win. The shortstop socked a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Red Sox ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"Ah, the sweet taste of victory," Harper crowed after the game.
The win elevated the Red Sox to 28-25.
