Mejia 5-for-6 Against South Bend
Great Lakes center fielder Alex Mejia had a big day at Four Winds Field at Coveleski Stadium today against the South Bend Cubs. The 21-year-old, who is not typically considered a big threat with the bat, went 5-for-6 and led the Loons to a 20-2 triumph over South Bend.

"Hey, I'm as surprised as you guys are," Mejia said in his postgame comments, smiling as he scolded the press corps for underestimating him. "Maybe I'm not so bad at the plate after all."

Alex Mejia singled in the 1st, walked in the 3rd, struck out in the 4th, hit a two-run double in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 7th, singled in the 8th and singled in the 9th.

Mejia is batting .315 this season in 77 games with 6 home runs, 38 RBIs and 56 runs scored. He has 97 hits in 308 at-bats.
