					| Padres Upend Athletics, 10-7 |
					| The San Diego Padres defeated the Oakland Athletics, 10-7. Doing his part was center fielder Andy Bowman, who went 1-3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. The winner was Ricardo Chavez in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Mike Torres took the loss. San Diego leads the National League West Division by 12½ games.
San Diego used the bat of Aaron LeBlanc to capture the win. The designated hitter jacked a grand slam home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Padres ahead, 8-4. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a dandy.

"This is a very good team," said Bowman. "We have the chance to do something special."
