					| Starting pitcher Curt Howland pitched well enough to help the San Francisco Giants beat the New York Mets, 5-3. Howland went 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 1 hit, walked 3, and struck out 8. His record improves to 5-2.  Borisz Barciniak got credit for the save for San Francisco. It was his 7th of the year. 
 Henri Cederberg, the 25-year old second baseman , had a direct impact on the outcome. Cederberg contributed a 2-run  single in the top of the sixth inning to put San Francisco up, 4-2.
 
 Cederberg told a San Francisco Observer reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
 
 With the win, San Francisco raised its record to 24-22.
