The Detroit Tigers grabbed a win, 5-4, over the Houston Astros at Minute Maid Park. Detroit designated hitter Phil Zacharia went 3 for 5 with a double and 2 singles, while adding 4 RBI. Detroit reliever Eric Putnam picked up the win to move to 3-0. Brian Thomas suffered the loss. The win gives Detroit a season record of 37-10.

The outcome might have been different had it not been for Zacharia. In the top of the ninth inning, when the Tigers were trailing 4-3, Zacharia delivered a two-out 2-run single for Detroit, giving his team the lead.

"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Zacharia. "And not try to do too much."
