Fading Astros Lose 11th Straight
|
The California Angels faced a tough opponent in Houston pitcher Mike Staus, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Minute Maid Park by a final score of 5-3. Staus went 6 innings and allowed 1 run. Ryan Terlizzi, now 1-2, was credited with the win. He allowed no runs on no hits, while striking out 2 and walking 1. Houston is in the throes of a 11-game losing streak.
California used the clutch hitting of Dietmar Warmisch to capture the win. The third baseman drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Angels ahead, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"We're in a funk right now," said Houston skipper Dave DaSilva.
