Hit Parade: Garciaparra Gets Cycle
Rudo Garciaparra was jubilant as the Aberdeen Ironbirds left the field with a 16-4 win over the Los Angeles (NYP) Angels today. He had every right to be.

The 18-year-old shortstop hit for the cycle at Academia de Abel Garcia, had a 4-for-4 game and chalked up 5 RBI and 4 runs to boot.

"It's too bad I can't do that every day," Garciaparra said with a smile to reporters after the game. "It would do wonders for my batting average."

Aberdeen manager Tyler Beede was "proud" of the shortstop's feat, but was not expecting it to happen.

"Cycles are tough because triples are tough," the skipper said. "As soon as the ball left the bat on that triple, guys were jumping off the bench for him. Honestly, I wasn't sure he was going to be able to leg it out."

Rudo Garciaparra hit an RBI triple in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, doubled in the 4th, walked in the 6th, walked in the 8th and hit a GRAND SLAM off Joe Schuler in the 9th.

To date this season Garciaparra is hitting .486 with 3 home runs.
